Can anybody explain what is hit and trail method and hit and error method which arent mentioned in my text...guys how do we have to split the middle term of a quadratic equation if the product which we get from end terms is quite high ?? like if the product is 1800 or something like that

A solid sphere and a solid hemisphere have same total surface area. Find the ratio of their volumes.

Find the equation of a line which has y intercept 4 and is parallel to the line 2x-3y-7=0. Find the coordinates of the point where it cuts the x axis.

For solving quadratic equations, to find out the square root can we use the tables book or should we use division method of finding square root??
