Explanation: Potassium permanganate turns colourless in the presence of a reducing agent. Of all the options given, only SO2 acts as a reducing agent and hence decolourises it. (ii) Option (b) is correct. Explanation: A saturated hydrocarbon has the general formula CnH2n+2. The formula C5H12 satisfies the criteria and hence, is a saturated compound.. (iii) Option (a) is correct. Explanation: All the other metals given are reactive metals. Their oxides are very stable and hence, cannot be reduced by any reducing agent. (iv) Option (d) is correct. (ii) (a) NH4Cl reacts with an alkali to liberate pungent odour ammonia gas, while this does not happen with NaCl. (b) When excess of sodium hydroxide is added to zinc nitrate solution, the gelatinous white precipitate of zinc hydroxide dissolves forming a clear solution.
