SECTION - I Q1) a) Draw the neat circuit diagram of 1 full-converter drive for separately excited dc motor. Explain its operation with the help of wave forms for continuous armature current. [12] b) State and define different dc motor performance parameters. [6] Q2) a) Draw a neat circuit diagram of 3 semiconverter drive for separately excited dc motor. Sketch the following waveforms for continuous armature current. [8] i) Phase supply voltages (R, Y and B). ii) Armature voltage. iii) Armature current. b) The speed of 20 HP, 300 V, 1800 rpm separately excited dc motor is controlled by 3 full converter drive. The field current is also controlled by 3 full-converter and is set to the maximum possible value. The ac input is 3 , star connected, 208 V150H2 Rf = 250 , Ra = 0.35 . The motor voltage constant Kv = 1.15 V/A - rad/sec. The armature and field current continuous and ripplefree.
