SECTION - I Q1) a) Give the historical background of development of cementing material.[6] b) State the Bougues equation for the percentage of main compound of composition of Portland cement. [6] c) Explain with charts, the relation between compressive strength of concrete and fineness of cement. [6] OR Q2) a) Determine the amount of water to be added in the mixture of cement and sand, to test ordinary Portland cement weighing 1 kg, for consistency test, soundness test, initial and final setting time & compressive strength. [6] b) Explain the importance of grading curve of aggregates in Civil Engineering. [6] c) Enlist the different properties of fresh concrete. Explain any one of them.[6] Q3) a) Explain and differentiate vacuum concrete and no fine concrete. [8] b) Differentiate shotcreting and guniting. [4] c) Explain jet cement concrete. [4] OR P.T.O.
