SECTION - I Q1) a) b) What are earthquakes. Explain the various causes of it. Explain how earthquakes are measured. [9] [8] OR Q2) a) b) Explain plate tectonic theory. [9] With neat sketches explain the different types of waves generated by an earthquake. [8] Q3) a) Derive the equation of motion for a damped free vibration of a SDOF system.
