See, supposedly I file a case against you in a local court. Now the local court declares you guilty. But you aren't happy with this decision because you feel that you havn't done anything wrong. So you will now appeal to the High Court. This is appealte jurisdiction.

It means transfer of appeals from the lower court to the higher courts in general. Also remember, that this can only go upto the decision of the Supreme Court. This means that you cannot appeal against the judgment of the Supreme Court and have to accept it.

Anti Defection law basically just lays down the conditions in which MPs and MLAs can be disqualified from holding their membership on the grounds of defection. Here are the conditions - 

1) MPs and MLAs are disqualifiedin case they give up the membership of their party from which they had been elected to the legislature.

2) In case of a nominated member, if the nominated member joins a political party after 6 months of his nomination, he stands disqualified

3) An independent candidate would be disqualified in case he joins some party

Also note that if a member doesn't abide by his party rules but there's a split in the party, then he would not be disqualified.
