Perennial canals are more useful than inundation canals because perennial cannals are filled with water throughout the year as they are connected to a perennial river whereas inundation canals are not. The inundation canals are mostly dry, they receive water only after a heavy rainfall and when the river are brimming with water or when the river floods. Thus Perennial canals are more useful than Inundation canals

Advantages of Tank Irrigation

1. Farmers can afford to have individual tanks. This reduces their dependence on others for their water rquirements to a great extent.

2. Most tanks are made in natural depressions. The cost of masonry is very less.
