ANS: Statement of Purpose To Whomsoever It May Concern During the final months of my class 12th at Smt. Sulochana Devi Singhania School, I attended a guest lecture on American Literature, delivered by Prof Alan Smith, which attracted me towards literature and aroused in me a keen interest to pursue an undergraduate course in the same. In the first few minutes of the lecture, Prof Smith asserted how with the advent of the Internet the human race has forgotten the art of effective writing and penmanship and has resorted to the usage of atrocious spellings and slangs, thereby changing the lexicon of the current generation. I was immediately fascinated by the idea that written word is immortal and capable of altering not only individual lives but also nations on the whole. Prof. Smith helped me to think radically and beyond the conventional fields of engineering and medicine. I realized that literature is something more than what we have been comprehending. Ruminating over the lecture I could sense the vitality in me to create a tangible impact on my life and future. I have attended 98.5 % in the ICSE examination, scored 97.2% in the ISC examination and performed well in the SAT exam. I have won several prizes and medals in debates and elocution competition and have been highly appreciated for my oratory skills. I won the creative writing competition held at St. George s college in 2019-20. I have been a member of the student council and headed the ED board of the school magazine for the year 2018-19. I have represented my school in Basketball and Table Tennis in the year 2016 and 2017. The undergraduate programme in English Literature, which is being offered at California University of Literature is well equipped to guide me towards my objective. It will not only accommodate my interdisciplinary interest but also give me an insight in to the history of literature right form the middle ages up to the present. California University provides education par excellence and the legendary alumni of the University has been a constant inspiration. I am confident I will greatly benefit under the able guidance of your learned faculty. Hence I conclude urging you to consider my application and I assure you that I will be asset to the university.
