State the law of conservation of angular momentum and illustrate with an example. 18. State the conditions for a satellite to be geostationary. How is a polar satellite different from a geostationary satellite? 19 The mass of a planet is 5x 1024 kg and its radius is 6.1x106 m. Calculate i) The energy required to send a 2kg mass from the surface into space? ii) The escape velocity from the surface of the planet? (ii) A 30 kg shell is flying at 48m/s . when it explodes one part of 18kg comes to rest while the remaining part moves on . Find the velocity of the latter. 21 A satellite of mass m is orbiting earth of mass M and radius R at a height h above the surface of earth.. Derive expressions for (i) The orbital velocity (ii) The time period of the satellite. OR Why does a cyclist bend while negotiating a curve? Obtain an expression for the angle through which the rider should lean . (ii) Why does the rider slowdown and take a path of large radius while taking a turn? 22 What do you mean by moment of inertia of a body? Discuss its physical significance (ii) obtain a relation between moment of inertia and kinetic energy of a body when it rotates with an angular velocity .
