PRIME ACADEMY (ICSE) PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION 2023 Subject: Technical Drawing Applications Std.: X Marks:100 Date: 13/01/2023 Time: 3hrs Answers to this paper must be written on the paper provided separately. You will not be allowed to draw/write during the first 15 minutes. This time is to be spent in reading the question paper. The time given at the head of this paper is time allowed for writing the answers. Attempt five questions in all. Three questions from Section A and Two questions from Section B Each Section should be answered on a separate paper. All questions must be answered in full scale. All construction lines must be shown. All dimensions are in millimetres unless specified otherwise. The intended marks for questions or parts of questions are given in brackets [ ]. The Paper consists of 4 Printed Sides. SECTION A (48 MARKS) Answer any three questions from this Section Question 1 (a) A right Square Pyramid, base 40 mm and axis 70mm long, is resting on a corner [10] Draw its projections Front View and Top View when axis is parallel to Vertical Plane and inclined at 45 to Horizontal Plane. Two sides of base are inclined at 600 to VP. Use First Angle Method of projection. (b) Draw a SQUARE of diagonal 38mm. Construct four equal circles outside this square [6] Such that each circle touches one side of the square and two other circles. Question 2 Refer Figure 1. [16] Draw an OBLIQUE VIEW when the receding angle is 45 . (Do not Insert any dimensions.) Figure 1 1 Question 3 (a) In a drawing, a line measuring 35mm is marked as 10m. Find the R.F. and construct [10] a PLAIN SCALE long enough to measure up to 35m. (b) Taking measurement from the scale constructed above draw a PARABOLA of [6] Base = 24m and Height = 18m using Rectangle Method. Question 4 (a) Figure 2. shows two Views of [10] Hexagonal Prism with axis parallel to HP And perpendicular to VP. Copy the given Views . Draw the Auxiliary Front View of Hexagonal Prism on the Auxiliary Plane X1--- Y1 as given in figure. Two sides of its base edge are inclined at 45 to HP. Figure 2 Given : Base edge = 30mm Axis height = 75mm (b) Construct a Triangle ABC. Base AB = 92mm, BC = 70mm, CA = 65mm. [6] Change it into equal area triangle ARP with Base AR =57mm Area (Triangle ARP) = Area (Triangle ABC) Question 5 Copy the Template given Figure 3 [16] (Insert any 6 dimensions.) Figure 3 2 SECTION B (52 MARKS) Answer any two questions from this Section Question 6 (a) Refer Figure 4. Two Views of a Hexagonal prism is shown with axis parallel to [12] Horizontal Plane and parallel to Vertical plane in First Angle Method It is cut by a cutting plane V T inclined at 45 to HP as shown in figure. Draw the following by using same method of projection. (i) Front View (ii) Sectional L.H.S.V. (iii) Sectional Top View Given : Side of the base = 30mm. Length of axis = 60mm. F.V. LHSV Figure 4 (b) Figure 5 shows the Top View of the cone [14] When axis is perpendicular to horizontal plane and parallel to vertical plane It is cut by plane HT inclined at 300 to HP and 15mm away from centre as shown in Figure Draw using Third Angle Method of projection 30 (i) Top View (ii) Sectional Front View (iii) Development of remaining part of Cone Given: Radius of Base = 35mm Axis Height = 66mm Figure 5 3 Question 7 [26] Refer Figure 6.
