For a car of weight 9000 N, the recommended tyre pressure is 18 Pa. Find the area of each tyre in contact with the ground. [3] e. Name the sounds of frequency (i) above 20,000 Hz and (ii) below 20 Hz. [2] Question 6. a. A small gap left between two successive rails. Why? [2] b. A whale takes a breath at the surface of the ocean, where the pressure is 100,000 Pa. It then dives to a depth where the pressure is 121,000 Pa. The temperature is the same at this depth as it is at the surface. The whale lets out a bubble of air of volume 50cm3. This bubble rises to the surface of the ocean. Do you think the volume of the bubble increases/decreases/remains same when it reaches the surface? Justify your answer. [2] c. A force of 10 N acts on an area of 0.1 m2. The force is kept the same, but the area is reduced to half. Calculate the pressure exerted by the force with relevant steps. [3] d. State law of conservation of energy. [2] e. Define one joule. [1] Question 7. a. Siraj kept a jam bottle made of glass inside a refrigerator. After few days when he tried to open, the cap fits very tightly and was difficult to remove. Suggest him a way that he can open it easily and explain. [2] b. At which position does the child on the swing have (i) the most gravitational potential energy and (ii) the most kinetic energy? The pressure at the bottom of a glass filled with water is P. The water is taken out and the glass is filled with kerosene oil, (density = 817.5 kg/m3). Will the pressure at the bottom be i.
