Write your roll number in the space provided on the top of this page. 2. Answer to short answer/essay type questions are to be given in the space provided below each question or after the questions in the Test Booklet itself. No Additional Sheets are to be used. 3. At the commencement of examination, the question booklet will be given to you. In the first 5 minutes, you are requested to open the booklet and compulsorily examine it as below : (i) To have access to the Question Booklet, tear off the paper seal on the edge of this cover page. Do not accept a booklet without sticker-seal and do not accept an open booklet. (ii) Tally the number of pages and number of questions in the booklet with the information printed on the cover page. Faulty booklets due to pages/questions missing or duplicate or not in serial order or any other discrepancy should be got replaced immediately by a correct booklet from the invigilator within the period of 5 minutes. FRENCH PAPER III Note : This paper is of two hundred (200) marks containing four (4) sections. Candidates are required to attempt the questions contained in these sections according to the detailed instructions given therein. (5 5 = 25 points) Le r le de l Acad mie fran aise est double : veiller sur la langue fran aise et accomplir des actes de m c nat. La premi re mission lui a t conf r e d s l origine par ses statuts. Pour s en acquitter, l Acad mie a travaill dans le pass fixer la langue, pour en faire un patrimoine commun tous les Fran ais et tous ceux qui pratiquent notre langue. Aujourd hui, elle agit pour en maintenir les qualit s et en suivre les volutions n cessaires. Elle en d finit le bon usage ; elle le fait en laborant son dictionnaire qui fixe 1 usage de la langue, mais aussi par ses recommandations et par sa participation aux diff rentes commissions de terminologie. La seconde mission le m c nat non pr vue 1 origine, a t rendue possible par les dons et legs qui lui ont t faits. L Acad mie discerne chaque ann e environ quatre-vingts prix litt raires. Mention particuli re doit tre faite du grand prix de la Francophonie, discern e chaque ann e depuis 1986, qui t moigne de l int r t constant de l Acad mie pour le rayonnement de la langue fran aise. L Acad mie fran aise se compose de 40 membres lus par leurs pairs. Depuis sa fondation, elle a re u en son sein plus de 700 membres. Elle rassemble des po tes, des romanciers, des hommes de th tre, des philosophes, des m decins, des hommes de science, des hommes d Etat, des hommes d Eglise, qui ont tous illustr particuli rement la langue fran aise.
