Explanation: The correlation coefficient ranges from 1 to 1, where 1 indicates a perfect negative correlation, 0 indicates no correlation, and 1 indicates a perfect positive correlation. A coefficient greater than 0 indicates a positive relationship, meaning as one variable increases, the other tends to increase as well. Conversely, a coefficient less than 0 indicates a negative relationship, meaning as one variable increases, the other tends to decrease. Therefore, a correlation coefficient of 3/4 indicates a negative relationship between the variables X and Y. 7 (iii) C = x + 2 x 3 x 2 2 Arg cost = M.A.C = C 7 = 1 + 2x 2 x x 2 7 d 7 1 + 2x 2 x = 4 x 2 dx 2 (iv) 4x + 3y + 7 = 0 3x + 4y + 8 = 0 from (i) & (ii) 7x+ 7y + 15 = 0 15 by adding x+y+ = 0 7 by subtracting from (iii) & (iv) from (iii) x = 4 7 y = 11 7 x > 16 36 A.C = x + 5 + x (a) Total cost function = x A.C = x2 + 5x + 36 36 (b) AC = x + 5 + x d( AC ) 36 = 1+0 2 dx x d( AC ) for increasing >0 dx 1 36 x2 > 0 300 5x = p R(x) = p x = (300 5x) d M.R. = (300x 5x2) = 300 10x dx \ 21.
