In your answer you will be assessed on how well you: demonstrate understanding of the ways meaning is shaped through narrative or dialogue organise, develop and express ideas using language appropriate to audience, purpose and form Question 1 Elective 1: Telling Stories (20 marks) Language in its different forms influences the way we see and relate to others and the world. Explain how language forms and features used in narrative influence our perceptions. In your answer, refer to your prescribed text, and ONE other text or an example from your own experience. In your answer you will be assessed on how well you: organise, develop and communicate information, ideas and attitudes use language appropriate to audience, purpose and context Question 3 Elective 1: Living and Working in the Community (20 marks) You have been asked to write an information sheet for Year 11 students who will be studying the Living and Working in the Community elective in 2006. The purpose of this sheet is to inform students about the types of texts they will be required to compose and respond to for this elective. Your information sheet should: describe the language structures and features of the texts; explain how these texts effectively communicate ideas and information in different social contexts. This extended response should refer to AT LEAST TWO of the following types of texts: job application letter accident report letter to the editor letter of complaint web page persuasive speech brochure or any other type of text you have studied in this elective. OR 4 Question 4 Elective 2: English for Study (20 marks) You have been asked to write an information sheet for Year 11 students who will be studying the English for Study elective in 2006. The purpose of this sheet is to inform students about the types of texts they will be required to compose and respond to for this elective. Your information sheet should: describe the language structures and features of the texts; explain how these texts effectively communicate ideas and information in different academic contexts. This extended response should refer to AT LEAST TWO of the following types of texts: report essay learning journal process diary web page oral presentation notes and summaries or any other type of text you have studied in this elective.
