(Use a scale of 2 cm = 50 on x-axis and 2cm = 10 workers on y-axis). Use your ogive to estimate: (a) the median wage of the workers (b) The lower quartile wage of the workers. (c) The number of workers who earn more than 625 daily. [5] (ii) A shopkeeper in Dehradun buys an article at the marked price of 24000 from a wholesaler in Delhi. The shopkeeper sells the article to a consumer in Dehradun at a profit of 15% on the basic cost price. If the rate of GST is 12%, find: (a) the price of the article (inclusive of tax, under GST) at which the shopkeeper bought it. (b) the amount of tax, under GST, paid by the shopkeeper to the Govt. (c) the amount of tax, under GST, received by Delhi Govt. (d) the amount of tax, under GST, received by Govt. of Uttarakhand. (e) the amount which the consumer pays for the article. [5] Question 6 (i) If 5th, 8th and 11th terms of G.P. are p, q and s respectively. Show that q2 = ps. [3] (ii) The line joining the points A (2,1) and B (5, -8) is trisected at the points P and Q such that P is nearer to A. If point P lies on the line 2x y + k =0, find the value of k. Also, find the co-ordinates of point Q. [3] (iii) A solid cylinder of silver 9 cm high and 4 cm in diameter is melted and recast into a right circular cone of diameter 6 cm. find the height and the total surface area of the cone. Give your answer correct to one decimal place. (Take =3.14) [4] Question 7 (i) A(-1,3), B(4,2) and C(3,-2) are the vertices of a triangle. (a) Find the co-ordinates of the centroid G of the triangle. (b) Find the equation of the line through G and parallel to AC. [3] (ii) Prove that: [3] + = 1+ sec cosec (iii) Mr. Ram Gopal invested 8000 in 7%, 100 shares at 80. After a year, he sold these shares at 75 each and invested the proceeds (including his dividend) in 18%, 25 shares at 41. Find: (a) his dividend for the first year. (b) his annual dividend in the second year. (c) the percentage increase in his return on his original investment. [3] (ii) When the polynomial x3 + 2x2 5ax 7 is divided by x + 1, the remainder is A and when the polynomial x3 + ax2 12x + 6 is divided by x 2, the remainder is B. Find the values of a , if 2A + B =6 [3] (iii) A 1.4 m tall girl spots a balloon moving with the wind in a horizontal line at a height of 91.4 m from the ground. The angle of elevation of the balloon from the eyes of the girl at that instant is 60 0. After sometime, the angle of elevation reduces to 30 0. Find the distance travelled by the balloon during the interval. Take 3 = 1.732 [4] Question 9 (i) Using the properties of proportion, find the values of x, when = [3] (ii) A motor boat whose speed is 15 km/h in still water goes 36 km upstream and comes back to the starting point in 5 hours. Find the speed of the stream. [3] (iii) Draw a circle of radius 4 cm. Take a point P outside the circle. Without using the centre of the circle, draw two tangents to the circle from, point P. [4] Question 10 (i) Using remainder theorem, factorise the 3x3+2x2-19x+6 completely. [3] (ii) Cards marked with the numbers from 2 to 101 are placed in a box and mixed thoroughly. On ecard is drawn from this box. Find the probability that the number on the card is: (a) an odd number. (b) a number less than 24. (c) a number which is not a perfect square. (d) a prime number less than 15. [3] (iii) Use graph paper to answer the following questions: (Take 2 cm = 1 unit on both axes) (a) Plot the points A (-4,2) and B(2,4) (b) A is the image of A when reflected in the y-axis. Plot it on the graph paper and write the coordinates of A . (c) B is the image of B when reflected in the line AA . Write the co-ordinates of B . (d) Write the geometric name of the figure ABA B .
