Hey everyone! Hope your maths exam was good! Even if it went good or bad, throw all thoughts related to it away, and get set for English-2. I saw a lot of speculation related to the stories and poems that might feature in this year's paper. Well, in 2017, at least in poetry, my prediction went 100% correct, and you'll see why in a moment. As for prose, I was only half-lucky :) DISCLAIMER: All the chapters that I have predicted below are just that: predictions. No one can actually be sure of which ones will come, so prepare ALL the chapters, but be smart by putting an extra bit for these chapters. What differentiates smart learners from others is that they leave out nothing, but also stress more on the important parts. POETRY: So here's a pattern: Look closely at the index. 1) Note that in 2015, the 2nd and 3rd poems, namely "The Inchcape Rock" and "In the Bazaars Of Hyderabad" were asked. 2) Then, skip two poems, and see that the 6th and 7th poems-"Stopping by woods" and "A doctor's journal entry" were asked in 2016. 3) Skip two more, and voila! the next two poems, i.e. Psalm of Life, and Where the Mind is without Fear were asked in 2017! So, skipping two more, the poems "Small pain in my chest" and "Professor" are the most likely, going by the pattern. Also, an intelligent guess, going by the importance of these two, would make these automatic favourites. So get down, and prepare these two the best of all! PROSE: I found no pattern as such, but I observed that they have asked the last 5 stories and the first one too, which means that out of the remaining lot, Journey by night and God lives in the Panch, being the most important are the most likely to be asked. However, it might be that either one of these comes in the 16 marker, and they ask the other question from the remaining, shorter stories. But I strongly recommend to stress more on these two. Even though these are the most probable ones, this DOES NOT mean that they cannot ask from the already asked ones. Remember that if you think you are smart, then the paper setter is even smarter. So devote more time to these chapters, but don't rule out any possibility. Also, year after year, English has been the knife that has brought down percentages, so it is never a bad idea to go an extra mile for it. P.S. : Holi's also coming up, and however hard you try, you will waste a few hours that day. So rather than trying to concentrate unfruitfully, go out for a couple of hours, enjoy and then sit down for the real deal . Make sure that since you are sacrificing the festivities, you make the most out of it. Its never good to forego the festival and also end up doing practically no studies too. So make the most of your hard-bought time, and as I always say: Rip through that paper, and show us that you are better in English by breaking this jinx! Happy Holi and Happy Studies!! |

I just noticed that every year from Poetry one question comes from an Indian poet and the other from a non-Indian poet. Like, 2017 - Where the mind is without fear(R.N. Tagore), Psalm of Life(H.W. Longfellow) 2016 - Doctor's Journal (V. Seth), Stopping be woods(R. Frost) 2015 - Bazaars of Hyderabad (Sarojini Naidu), Inchcape Rock(Robert Southey) In this context the chapters left are, I believe(Sangma*), Small Pain in My Chest(M. Mack), Professor(Ezekiel*), If thou Must Love Me (Elizabeth Browning) * - Indian So, it can be speculated that, if the pattern continues, One poem from Indian poet and the other form a non-Indian will come I PERSONALLY think that Small pain in my chest and I Believe will come. |

Hey everyone! This question is for the people who took their ICSE exams in 2017 or before: Why do you think you lost your marks in English Literature? What do you think you could have done during your preparation so as to avoid this loss? What do you think you could have done during the exam itself? Any suggestions for the 2018 batch would be helpful! :) |

Hey Guys! Aameya here, I noticed two things today 1).In every past board paper , an anti-war poem is present: --->Where the mind is w/o fear(2017) --->A doctors Journal..............(2016) ---->In the Bazaars of Hyderabad(2015) ( I know this is not exactly an anti-war poem but it definitely appeals to our Indian sensibilities) 2). More Than 80% papers that I have gone through today have the Poem A Small Pain In My Chest. So, I hereby GUESS That the board paper 2018 shall have A Small Pain In My Chest as one of its question (Warning: As much as I believe in myself, please consider that tthis is just a wild speculation, and yes please do not kill me, abuse me or send me Death Threats if my prediction unfortunately turns out to be wrong Something tells me that A Small Pain... will come) All The Best! |

Hey guys in our maths there was a question regarding the construction of circumcircle of a triangle... i drew the triangle perfectly with all mentioned dimensions.....the circumcircle was touching all the three vertices perfectly but the the circle just went "out of the paper" just like 2 or 3 cm. the point D was shown clearly INSIDE the paper and i drew the quad. correctly. Will i get full marks? |
