Hey everyone! Hope you are preparing well for Maths. Well, I know its unfair that you guys got no leave for it, but you must not let it deter your confidence. I just remember this quote from our "Captain Cool" MSD : "If you prepared honestly the entire year, one day's prep cannot affect you much". So, I hope you all do well and be confident. Remember, its only when coal is subjected to immense pressure and heat a lot that true diamonds emerge! Now coming to some tips my more-than-helpful seniors gave me,which I am happy to pass along: 1) Be confident. Don't let anything distract you or demoralise you. Have faith in your knowledge and keep the attitude that you are going to tear through that paper!! 2) Manage your time well. Don't let pressure get you. Believe me, you have so much time, but only if you manage it well. Don't spend more than 15 minutes on any question(which has three parts). Ideally Section A questions do not require more than 10 minutes for the three parts of each question. But don't sweat if you are a bit slower. Accuracy is more important. 3) Try to do at least one extra question, but only after revising the paper thoroughly. You will have sufficient time to attempt the WHOLE PAPER(including three extra questions) and still revise it twice. I too did that, and its no mean task. You just need to keep calm, and practice loads of papers. 4) There will be a lot of you who wouldn't be able to revise all that they had planned to do today, due to the shortage of prep time. Don't worry! 11th hour study is not always the best. If you were attentive in class and practiced well, then this last moment revision will not make much of a difference. Even if you leave something, remain confident by telling yourself that you know it. Let me tell you, knowledge doesn't affect your paper as much as confidence does. I've seen extremely intelligent people ruin exams just because they were not confident! 5) The paper will be DAMN EASY. Keep yourself collected, and don't let people intimidate you by asking wayward questions. Tell them to come after the exam. 6) Keep your paper neat and clean, and minimise all types of cuttings. 7) Try to do the rough work along the same place as the question. It makes it easier for the examiner, and keeps them happy. You don't want them to be irritated with you! ;) 8) Leave appropriate space after each question, at least 2 lines. Don't worry, you can save paper later. 9) When you enter the exam hall, just concentrate on yourself and your paper. AND THEN RIP THROUGH THAT GODDAMN EASY PAPER!! Phew! This has been a long post, but I hope it'll be helpful! If you found it helpful, do let me know, so I'll keep posting things like these before each paper. I've been through this, and so I feel its better to tell you about the whole experience, so you can be better prepared than I was. Leaving you with some motivation: "When the going gets tough, the tough get going" Godspeed. |
