I hv these doubts in the four compounds (HCl NH3 HNO3 H2SO4
Cud someone pls answer it:
1)How do u prove that NH3 is alkaline(without using an indicator)?
2)Write an equation to obtain ammonia from ammonium hydroxide.
3)Name the amphoteric oxide which cannot be reduced by NH3.State the reason.
4)Name the ammonium salt used to clean metal surfaces.State the reason.
5)Give reason:Lead nitrate is not used in place of nitre for the preparation of nitric acid in the lab.
6)Give reason:The reactant mixture used in Ostwald's process is scrubbed with caustic soda and refrigerated before catalytic oxidation is carried out.
7)Give reason:The unchanged gases leaving the absorption tower in ostwald's process are passed through sodium carbonate soln.
8)Using H2SO4 write a rxn for converting a metallic nitrate into its corresponding metallic sulphate.Also state the property used.
9)Prove that sulphuric acid contains sulphur.
10)Name:A fertiliser manufactured using sulphuric acid during the process of manufacture.
11)The anhydride of sulphuric acid used in explosives.
12)Sulphuric acid can be used in the manufacture of HCl but not HI.Give reason.
