It looked lost and helpless, and Mia s heart went out to it. Without thinking twice, she gently picked up the kitten and wrapped it in her scarf to keep it warm. Mia knew the kitten must have been separated from its mother, so she decided to take it home. When she arrived, she placed the kitten in a box and fed it some milk. Her mother, who loved animals, was pleased to see Mia had helped the little creature. They made a warm bed for the kitten and decided to keep it until they could find its owner. The next day, Mia made posters and put them up around the neighborhood, asking if anyone had lost a kitten. Days passed, but no one came forward. Mia grew attached to the kitten, and it seemed to have found a place in her heart. She named it Whiskers because of its long, soft whiskers. Whiskers played with Mia every day, and she loved taking care of it. One week later, a woman came to Mia s door, looking for her lost kitten.
