Time: 2 Hours SRI SRI ACADEMY PRE BOARD EXAMINATION SESSION 2017-2018 CLASS X Subject: - Biology (Science Paper 3) Max Marks 80 GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS: Answer to this paper must be written on the paper provided separately. You will not be allowed to write during first 15 minutes. This time is to be spent in reading the question paper. The time given at the head of this paper is the time allowed for writing answers. (a) The figure given below represents a particular stage of cell division. Study the diagram and answer the following questions: [5] (i) State two most important function of the above mentioned sense organ. (ii) Name the parts labelled 1 to 10. (iii) State the most important function of the parts labelled as 2,7 and 9 (b) A homozygous plant having Round (R) and Yellow (Y) seed is crossed with another homozygous plant having wrinkled (r) and green (y) seeds .Answer the question that follows:[5] (i) Give the scientific name of the plant on which Mendel conducted his hybridization experiments.. (ii) Give the genotype of First filial generation. (iii) Give the possible combination of gametes that can be obtained from F1 hybrid (iv) Using Punnett square deduce Phenotypic ratio. (v) State the law that can be enunciated in the above mentioned Genetic Cross. Question 5. (a) Study the Diagram given below and answer the questions that follows : [5] (i) Name the parts labelled 1 to 6. (ii) Name any two substances transported by the part labelled 2 to the foetus. (iii) State the function of part labelled 4 other than its endocrine function. (iv) Name the hormone secreted by part labelled 4. P.T.O (b) With reference to the diagram mentioned below ,answer the question that follows: [5] (i) Identify the plant physiological process mentioned above in the diagram. (ii) Give the balanced chemical equation of the above mentioned process. (iii) Name two plants which can be used as an alternative instead of pondweed. (iv) For each of the following parts give your answer in terms of bubble count:(a) If KCN (Potassium Cyanide) is added in the test tube. (b) If NaHCO3(Sodium Bicarbonate) is added in the test tube. (c) If pond water is replaced by Distilled Water. (d) If the experimental set up is placed in red light of visible Spectrum. (e) If crushed ice is added in the test tube. Question 6. (a) Study the diagram and answer the question that follows:- [5] (i) Name the organ systems which have been depicted in the diagram partially or completely. (ii) Name the parts labelled 1 to 5. (iii) Define the term Micturition. (iv) Name two organic components that flow through part labelled 3. (v) What is Uropoiesis? Name the three sequential steps of Uropoiesis.
