David had difficulties with his speech, his interactions with others and his behaviour. After a series of assessments by health and social care professionals, David was diagnosed with autism. David is now four years old and will be starting school next week. His parents have raised money to pay for Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), a therapy which they learned about through the National Autistic Society and which David is now receiving at home. They had hoped that he would have been able to benefit from this therapy free of charge when he starts school but have been told that the local education board will not fund it. The rationing of this service has made David s parents angry because they are aware that it has been provided for other children in the UK.
