The marriage was difficult as Clare was a victim of domestic violence. Stephen dislikes school and Clare has had to meet his teacher due to his poor academic performance and aggressive behaviour in class. Clare has difficulty encouraging Stephen to do his homework as he spends his evenings playing computer games.
