Empey noted that there had been no talk of co-operation from the DUP during the March 2007 Assembly Elections. At that time the DUP s only aim seemed to be the destruction of the UUP. He went on to say that it was tempting to draw the conclusion that the DUP which has quite a few problems on its plate at the moment regards co-operation with the UUP as a way of increasing the DUP s recent electoral dominance. 1 With reference to the Source and any other relevant material you have studied, explain two reasons why the UUP might not want closer links with the DUP.
