A2I22S8B 3631.02 1 [Turn over For use with question 2 Cr na Cille hits the big screen It was an historic day in Galway recently when the film based on Cr na Cille by M irt n Cadhain was shown for the first time. The audience waited impatiently. The excellent actress Br d N Neachtain appeared on the screen and then her character, Caitr ona, spoke the first lines. The Irish Film Board funded the film and it was directed by Robert Quinn of the famous theatre company, An Rosg. The showing of the film is significant in the cultural life of Irish-speakers. Not only did it have international status, but glamorous celebrities came who sparked media interest. The company hopes that it will achieve its two main goals in Ireland before the film goes on tour all around the world.
