Sp N ec ew i ca tio n ADVANCED General Certi cate of Education 2010 Music Unit 1: Sequenced Arrangement Task [AU214] FOR SUBMISSION 10th MAY 2010 PRE-RELEASE STIMULUS MATERIAL 6227 A2 Music Sequenced Arrangement Task Set stimulus September 2009 For submission 10th May 2010 Use the given melody to create a sequenced arrangement lasting 2 to 3 minutes. The sequenced arrangement must have at least six independent parts. Within the candidate s chosen form or structure, the stimulus material provided should form the main basis of the arrangement. Candidates may wish to add a brief introduction, coda or other linking passages. If appropriate to the choice of style, candidates are permitted to make slight alterations to the melody and/or rhythm but are strongly advised to keep the melody as recognisable as possible. Candidates have a free choice in the following aspects of the arrangement: Style Instruments/patches/sounds Key Chord Metre Tempo Dynamics Texture Form/Structure The nal sequenced arrangement should include the following: Tempo changes (e.g. accellerando or rallentando) Contrasting tempo (e.g. at least one section to be at a different tempo from the rest of the piece) Use of stereo placement (panning) to enhance the effect Use of effects (e.g. reverb) Articulation indicated in the score should be followed where possible. Submissions with durations outside of the required parameters will be penalised. Candidates and teachers are reminded that they are required to sign the of cial Statement of Authenticity form in relation to the work submitted.
