Candidates may choose the compositional style and resources. A Musical stimulus melodic fragment B Text stimulus lyrics for a song Anthem for Doomed Youth What passing-bells for these who die as cattle? Only the monstrous anger of the guns. Only the stuttering ri es rapid rattle Can patter out their hasty orisons. No mockeries for them from prayers or bells, Nor any voice of mourning save the choirs,- The shrill, demented choirs of wailing shells; And bugles calling for them from sad shires. What candles may be held to speed them all? Not in the hands of boys, but in their eyes Shall shine the holy glimmers of goodbyes. The pallor of girls brows shall be their pall; Their owers the tenderness of silent minds, And each slow dusk a drawing-down of blinds. (Wilfred Owen, 1893 1918) C Non-musical stimulus Compose one continuous piece of music to portray the following three events at the Olympics: (a) building a new stadium; (b) the Games in action; and (c) the Closing Ceremony. The composition must be submitted in the form of a recorded performance, which may be live or sequenced with optional score. The recording must be accompanied by a detailed commentary. For more information on the commentary and other requirements, please refer to the speci cation (pp. 30-31).
