The rate of production of carbon dioxide is an indicator of the rate of respiratory metabolism. You are asked to devise a plan to test the hypothesis that yeast has a higher rate of respiration when glucose (a monosaccharide) is supplied than when either maltose or lactose (both disaccharides) is supplied.
