MATHEMATICS (Two hours and a half) Answers to this Paper must be written on the paper provided separately. You will not be allowed to write during the first 15 minutes. This time is to be spent in reading the question paper. The time given at the head of this Paper is the time allowed for writing the answers. SECTION A (40 Marks) Attempt all questions from this Section. Question 1 (a) Find the value of k if 4 3 2 2 + + 5 leaves remainder -10 when divided by 2 + 1. (b) [3] Amit deposits ` 1600 per month in a bank for 18 months in a recurring deposit account. If he gets ` 31,080 at the time of maturity, what is the rate of interest per annum? (c) [3] The price of an article is ` 9350 which includes VAT at 10%. Find how much less a customer pays for the article, if the VAT on the article decreases by 3%.
