MATHEMATICS (Two hours and a half) Answers to this Paper must be written on the paper provided separately. You will not be allowed to write during the first 15 minutes. This time is to be spent in reading the question paper. The time given at the head of this Paper is the time allowed for writing the answers. Attempt all questions from Section A and any four questions from Section B. All working, including rough work, must be clearly shown and must be done on the same sheet as the rest of the answer. SECTION A (40 Marks) Attempt all questions from this Section. Question 1 (a) Find the value of k if 4 3 2 2 + + 5 leaves remainder -10 when divided by 2 + 1. (b) [3] Amit deposits ` 1600 per month in a bank for 18 months in a recurring deposit account. If he gets ` 31,080 at the time of maturity, what is the rate of interest per annum? (c) [3] A shopkeeper bought an article with market price 1200 from the wholesaler at a discount of 10%. The shopkeeper sells this article to the customer on the market price printed on it.
